What this template does and does not claim
- Cloud sync is available for signed-in users; guest work survives a browser reload.
- Library adds are blocked when the rack has no free U left for that device height.
- Each saved design holds one rack.
- The ?example= param loads once and is stripped so a reload cannot silently overwrite your work.
- RackBuilder does not store chassis weights, does not calculate BTU or circuit amps, and does not perform depth checks.
- The CyberPower PDU entry is a library placeholder; confirm the real SKU against your site standards.
Ask a licensed electrician or qualified installer before you size power, circuits, or mounting. Follow the manufacturer install guide for rails and fasteners. RackBuilder does not size structural hardware.

Frequently asked questions
What devices are in the 42U network rack template?
The layout uses catalog Juniper EX3400-48, Arista 7050-48, and Cisco Nexus 3048 switches, a Palo Alto PA-3220 firewall, generic Cat6 and fiber patch panels, cable managers, a generic 1U KVM, blanking panels, a CyberPower PDU placeholder, and an APC Smart-UPS 1500. All IDs exist in devices.json.
How does this differ from the network elevation example?
The how-to guide example uses dual Catalyst 9300 switches plus a Dell R740. This template uses a different multi-vendor switch stack, a KVM instead of that server, and its own JSON under data/templates/42u-network-rack.json. Open each layout from its own link; each loads once via ?example=.
Does RackBuilder add AV engineering extras for this network template?
No. RackBuilder places devices by U only. It does not create wiring diagrams, signal flow diagrams, or cable schedules. Plan patching and optics from your own standards and manufacturer docs.
